57RD - Middle Cove

This house in Middle Cove is an existing modernist, post-war period house that required lots of love and affection. The client came with ideas to enhance the house with their experience of living by suggesting a simple extension to maximise the functionality of the internal floor plan of the living, dining and kitchen with a new and convenient location for the laundry.

The lower ground floor was also extended to allow for a more comfortable ensuite.

The exterior was designed with a dark coloured fibre cement sheeting cladding, both dark and moody, to allow the house to sit unnoticed from the street. Windows and doors were replaced for better amenity, thermal comfort and to also comply with bush-fire regulations.
